12 Tribes Or 2?

Q. You are contradicting 25 centuries of Jewish thought on the issue of the lost tribes.  The Jews have claimed throughout the centuries that they only represent two tribes. Christians claim that the Jews represent all 12 tribes.  Jews on the other hand have never claimed this.

A. It’s not me contradicting Jewish thought but the Bible.

2 Chronicles 11:16-17 say the faithful from every tribe followed the Levites from the Northern Kingdom to the South after the death of Solomon.  Rev. 7:1-8 says there will be Jews from all 12 tribes in Israel before the Great Tribulation begins.  And Ezekiel 48shows new land grants to all the 12 tribes at the beginning of the Kingdom Age.

Do The Jewish People Understand Prophecy?

Q. Recently I got to thinking about how we who love the Lord can hardly wait for His return, and are watching for Isaiah 17, Psalm 83, and Ezekiel 38 & 39.  It made me wonder, what do the Jews do with these prophecies that are in “their” part of the Bible, but have not happened yet?  Do you think the average Jew living in Israel today even knows that Damascus is scheduled to be a ‘heap of ruins’, that Gaza and friends are going to be dealt with,  that Russia will lead a war with Iran and God will defeat them personally?  I just wonder if they even read these passages, believe them, and realize they are due any day, or are they not even aware of them.

A. The only Christian believers who are eagerly awaiting the Lord are those who study prophecy and take it literally.  Even among those who claim to be born again, the vast majority  do not do so and are hopelessly uninformed about the End Times. The same is true in Judaism.  Most Jews do not adhere to a literal interpretation of the Old Testament and have no real understanding of what’s coming.
